I begin my Biomimicry adventure in the Fall of 2015, courtesy of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo! I will be working with and for the Education Department.
I am a mother of 3 children. My sons are 13 and 11; my daughter is 1. When my boys started school, I decided to go back to college and finish my degree. I received my B.S. in Biology in 2013 from The University of Akron. Prior to that, I stayed home with them while we moved around the U.S. due to military service.
My work experience post-graduation has been with the Stark County Park District and Cleveland Metroparks. I have worked in Educational Programming and as a Botany Research Scientist.
I decided to go for my doctorate in Biomimicry for several reasons. I enjoy learning; I want to be one of the best scientists that I can be; and to show my children that they can attain anything they work towards. I want to make discoveries and changes that can positively impact our world for generations to come.
In my spare time, I love to be at home with my family. Sitting outside on our front porch or in our backyard together are special times for me! I like bird watching, plant identification, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and landscaping.
